Meet Jillian

A two-time Emmy Award-Winning journalist with nearly 20 years’ experience in TV media, Jillian worked at the highest level of national news anchor and reporter before going back to school to get an MBA and start her own business.

While in broadcasting, she was at the helm, anchoring and reporting on historic moments like the COVID-19 pandemic, Elections, and the War in Ukraine. Jillian was on the ground in the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting and during various hurricanes. She covered the 2019 and 2022 World Series and the ups and downs of the post-pandemic economy. Jillian has interviewed professional athletes, politicians, war heroes, economists, and business owners. She even went skydiving with the Army Golden Knights for an assignment. All of these moments are vastly different, but one thing is the same: the ability to tell the story.

Jillian believes that being prepared is the key to everything and if you do it correctly, you can feel confident and you CAN succeed. That’s why she created the Skill Studio, a place where you can prepare and shape different parts of your story. Because at the end of the day, if you are not telling your story, no one is.

This is personal.
Come along with me.

10 things you didn't know about Jillian

Early in my career, a mentor told me that people would try to knock me down and that it would be up to me to let them succeed. At the time, I didn’t know what that meant until I saw it clear as day. Throughout my career, people have tried to derail me, but I dealt with it much easier because I knew only I could allow it to happen. I took my mentor’s advice and didn’t allow it to happen, and through those moments, I gained confidence and strength.
I love photography as a hobby because it truly relaxes me. I can go for a walk and get lost in the moment if I have my camera. I wouldn’t consider myself a professional, but it is the one activity on earth that removes everything else from my mind and allows me to be creative.
I am all for it! I think we should never stop learning! I graduated with an MBA in May 2024, and it was the best thing I did for myself. Not only did it give me immense knowledge, but it also gave me confidence in ways that I didn’t expect. That’s why I am so passionate about my courses in the Skill Studio that promote continuous learning and development. I hope everyone who takes them will find more confidence and passion.
As someone who spent nearly 20 years in TV media, I know how important it is to pay attention to current events, trends, and developments. Part of staying current is doing exactly what the Skill Studio aims to do: Meet people where they are (online) with information that is honest, valuable, and conversational. There are so many trends impacting the professional world, including AI. But I believe there are still many things that AI can’t replace such as human interaction, empathy, emotion, and the list could go on. We must stay current, but we must not forget who we are.
I am a simple girl. I love spending time with the people who matter. I also love being outdoors whenever possible, golfing, or taking photos. I love enjoying the beauty around us and taking in the fresh air. We all need that! Lastly, snuggling with my dog Levi is the best way to end the day!
I believe we have to make ourselves uncomfortable to be comfortable. The first example that comes to mind is when I climbed Mount Sinai with my brother in 2009. We started to climb the mountain (with a 7,497-foot elevation) around 10 pm and reached the peak to see the sunrise. Yes, this was challenging and physically uncomfortable at times, but I will never forget the colors and shape of that breathtaking sunrise. I also had the opportunity to go skydiving with the Army Golden Knights. Skydiving was never on my list of things to do, but I am so grateful for being pushed out of my comfort zone. And now, I can’t wait to go again one day!
“You are being presented with two choices: Evolve or Repeat.” It hit me recently how powerful this quote is. You’ll see it on my website because it truly speaks to where I am in life. I am choosing to evolve each day because I never want to stay stagnant.
It would be easy to say both Emmy Awards, but honestly, it is my MBA and now the first Skill Studio course! Going back to school at 38 and leaving a career while at the top was no small feat. But I believed in myself enough to take those steps to better myself, and I am so happy that I did. I am also really proud of making this vision and idea come to life. It has taken a lot of work from many people to get this course ready to go, and I am so proud of it.
My one piece of advice is: We live once, so believe in yourself, take the risk, and give yourself credit and grace. So many people are afraid to take risks. I know this because I used to be one of those people. It took me years to build up the courage to take a leap of faith and bet on myself. What changed my mind was realizing I didn’t want to wake up one day and regret not taking a risk. I didn’t want to sit back and watch my life pass by me. I wanted to try to make something of myself, by myself. I think we can be too hard on ourselves at times. Take a minute, be proud of what you have accomplished, and vow to keep getting better!
I miss the people, and I miss telling stories. But I had a calling to explore other avenues. That’s why I am so excited about this new adventure. In the Skill Studio, I can help people shape their stories, host the content, and do it in a way that is personal to me. Will I ever go back on air? I have no idea! I think there is tremendous value in accessing information from subject matter experts, and that’s what I am bringing to you. Through my career experience and interview skills, I have created a platform to bring you inside the world and minds of successful leaders, who can guide you on your journey.
